Blackstone Brewery Creates Lager Exclusive for Puckett’s Restaurants
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Puckett’s Gro. restaurants have a new beer offering on their menus, and in true Puckett’s fashion, it is produced locally at Nashville’s oldest craft brewery, Blackstone Brewing Company. The Helles style Lager will be featured as the “Puckett’s Brew” and is being distributed to the restaurants this week. It is the first lager that Blackstone has introduced to the market on this scale.
Several Blackstone beers have long been staples on Puckett’s Gro. menus, and their continual popularity inspired Claire Crowell, chief operating officer of Puckett’s parent company, A. Marshall Family Foods Inc., to pursue a partnership that would spotlight a Blackstone Brewing Company product as their “Puckett’s Brew.”
“It was important to me that we find a quality beer that was not only crafted in our region, but also extremely accessible to our guests.” Crowell said. “The Helles Lager is a great bridge beer for people looking for something light and easy, but it's also well crafted. Lagers like this are an art, and there is little forgiveness for error like there is in more boldly or robustly flavored beers like IPAs or porters.”
The creation of the lager is certainly an art, and it requires a minimum of 30 days to perfect through a production cycle that takes place in Blackstone’s brewing system from Germany, made especially to brew German-style lagers.
“Throughout the process, we strive for the highest quality possible when crafting our beers,” said Thomas Solinsky, director of sales and marketing for Blackstone. “If the brew cycle is finished and we are not satisfied with the final product, we will hold back on selling it and start over.”
The Helles Lager is light, with low bitterness and a crisp and pleasant malty flavor. Solinksy said his team settled on this recipe because it is well balanced and doesn’t have too strong of a flavor. This beer will pair well with just about anything on the menu, which makes it an easy sell when eating BBQ and fried chicken at Puckett’s.
Located just west of downtown Nashville at 2312 Clifton Ave, Blackstone Brewery has recently added a tasting room and will soon allow visitors to enjoy outdoor tastings in a beer garden. Situated on 3.5 acres of land, it boasts 130 fruit trees and various vegetable plants, and produces its own honey on-site. The Helles Lager will be available on draft only at Puckett’s Gro. and will not be sold in stores.
